You’ll need a tripod or beanbag to ensure the camera doesn’t move during shooting. You’ll also need to be outdoors, away from streetlights, illuminated signs, etc.
Make sure the camera is set to full (12MP) resolution. Zoom to maximum zoom. Make sure the flash is OFF. Point and shoot. The standard program mode should keep the shutter open until enough light has hit the sensor.
Be aware, though, that the moon (and earth) are in constant motion. Exposure times of longer than 30 seconds will be slightly blurred – so try and shoot only on clear, bright nights when the moon is full.
